FindResto

How we compare

FindResto is a comparison app. It compares dishes, and restaurants, using what verified diners found: diners who showed a receipt or a delivery order, or had their FindResto card scanned. FindResto does not give its own ratings or opinions of restaurants.

What goes into a dish score

Each dish gets a score from 0 to 10, built only from verified diners in the last 90 days.

PartWeightFrom
Taste40%Verified diners' taste marks, weighted by how reliable each diner has been; local diners count 1.5×.
Menu honesty25%Whether the diet symbols, allergens, photo and description matched what arrived.
Value and portion20%What you pay against the portion, compared only with the same dish at other places in the same city.
Hygiene and consistency15%The official hygiene rating where one exists, and how steady the dish has been over 90 days.

A full score needs at least 10 verified diners. Until then a dish shows a predicted score, marked "Predicted", worked out from the menu, allergen information and certificates. A restaurant's score is the average of its dishes with full scores.

How results are ordered
  • Best value (the usual order): dishes with a full score first, by value for money against the same dish nearby; then dishes still collecting diners.
  • Highest score: full scores first, highest first; then predicted scores.
  • Lowest price: cheapest first, using what you actually pay (see below).
  • Nearest: worked out on your phone. Your location never leaves it.
  • Restaurants: those with a score first, highest first; then by their best predicted dish.

When two results are level, they are shown in alphabetical order. Filters (diet, allergens, price, open now and so on) only hide results that don't match; they never move a result up or down.

What never affects the order or a score
  • Payment of any kind: a restaurant's plan, how much it pays, or whether it pays at all
  • Promotions, sponsored slots and events. They are always labelled and shown apart from the comparison
  • Loyalty points, rewards, or whether a restaurant accepts the FindResto card
  • Ratings from other websites. Where shown, they sit beside our results, never mixed in
  • Reviews from staff, family or friends of the restaurant, and meals that weren't paid for
  • Reviews that may break the rules, while they are being checked
Prices: what you actually pay

Some menus leave out tax or service (for example "++" pricing, or sales tax added at the till). Each restaurant tells us what its menu leaves out, and FindResto compares the final price before any tip. The menu price is shown too.

Which restaurants are covered

FindResto only compares restaurants that have joined FindResto and passed our menu check, in the cities where FindResto is open. It does not cover every restaurant, so a place you know may not be listed.

How FindResto makes money
  • Diners pay once (£1.99) for lifetime access.
  • Restaurants pay for a verified listing and, if they choose, for insights and clearly labelled promotions.

None of this changes where dishes appear or their scores.

Independence

Restaurants can't edit, reply to or remove reviews, and can't choose who reviews them. Anyone can report a review they think breaks the rules. Scores update every hour as reviews go public, three days after they are written, with a full recount every day.
