FindResto

Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data the FindResto apps and this website use, why, and your rights. The data controller is Myrvo Technologies Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17034685), Chandos Business Centre, 87 A Warwick Street, Leamington Spa, CV32 4RJ, United Kingdom. Contact: [email protected].

The short version
  • We collect what the app needs to work: your email, first name, settings, reviews and proofs of visit, and your loyalty card history.
  • Your location stays on your phone. It is never sent to us.
  • Receipt images are kept for up to 30 days so we can check them, then deleted.
  • We never sell your data and there are no adverts inside results.
  • You can download or delete your data at any time.
What we collect
  • Account: email address, first name (surname optional), a PIN (stored only as a secure hash), the phones you are signed in on, and whether you accepted our terms and chose to hear from us.
  • Settings: city, diets, cuisines, saved places.
  • Proofs of visit: the receipt or order-email you upload, and what we read from it (restaurant, date, time, total, dishes, receipt number). Card numbers and cardholder names on receipts are never kept. Visits confirmed by a staff scan of your FindResto card.
  • Reviews: your marks, checks and words, and reports you make.
  • Loyalty: your card number, visits, points, rewards used and notices.
  • Security: sign-in codes, rate-limit records and an audit log of important actions.
Why we use it (and the legal basis)
  • To run your account and the app you asked for (contract).
  • To verify visits and keep reviews honest: checking receipts, spotting fake reviews and misuse (legitimate interests, and our legal duty to prevent fake reviews).
  • To run the loyalty card with the restaurants that take it (contract).
  • To send you service emails, such as sign-in codes and important changes (contract). News only if you opted in (consent, which you can withdraw).
Who we share it with
  • Restaurants see reviews without names or exact dates, and their loyalty results. Staff see your first name when they scan your card, and card numbers only as FR••••••1234.
  • Service providers who work for us under contract: hosting, email delivery, and an AI service that reads menus and receipts (Anthropic). They may use the data only to provide their service to us.
  • Authorities, only where the law requires.

We never sell your data.

How long we keep it
  • Your account data: until you delete your account (30 days to change your mind, then erased).
  • Receipt and order-email images: 30 days after upload. What we read from them stays with your review.
  • Notices: 180 days.
  • Anonymous reviews you chose to keep, and anonymous visit counts: while FindResto runs.
Where it is stored

With our hosting and service providers. Where your data is processed outside the UK, we use the legal safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.

Where your data comes from

Mostly from you. Also from restaurants (menus, and staff scans of your FindResto card, which record the visit and the staff member who scanned it) and from what we read on receipts you upload.

What you must give us

An email address and first name are needed to create an account; without them we can't provide FindResto. A proof of visit is needed to review. Everything else is optional.

Automatic checks and profiling
  • Reading receipts: a receipt is read and matched automatically. If it doesn't match, it is refused with the reason, or checked by our team.
  • Trust levels: how much your reviews count (New, Trusted, Expert) depends on how many verified reviews you have written and how often other diners agree with you.
  • Keeping reviews honest: new accounts count half; ratings far from most diners count half, whether higher or lower; sudden bursts of reviews are held for our team.

These checks affect how your reviews count, not your access to FindResto. You can ask for a person to look again at any decision: email [email protected].

Restaurant staff

If you work at a restaurant on FindResto, we keep your first name, your PIN (stored only as a secure hash), your role, and which cards you scanned and codes you checked, to run the loyalty card and prevent misuse. Your restaurant's owner can see this activity log. Ask your employer or email us to see or delete it.

Your rights
  • See and download your data
  • Correct it
  • Delete it (see Delete your account)
  • Object to or restrict some uses
  • Withdraw consent for news at any time

If you use FindResto in India
  • We use your data for the purposes listed above, with your consent given when you create your account.
  • You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account; this doesn't affect what was done before.
  • You can ask to see, correct or erase your data, and nominate someone to act for you if you die or cannot act.
